Migration

We’ve made moving to Hosted Exchange easy

When moving to Giacom’s Hosted Exchange, choose to migrate part or all of the data from your existing email environment.

Option 1 – Drag and drop

When moving to Hosted Exchange using Outlook, you can access the emails within your existing PST alongside your new hosted mailbox. By simply selecting a group of emails from your existing PST, and dragging them into your new hosted mailbox, your messages will automatically copy from your local machine to Giacom’s Hosted Exchange service.

If you upload a large number of messages, it may take several hours to complete the transfer, so we recommend choosing from only a limited period when making your selection. For example, you may need daily access to the last 3 months’ emails, so you would copy these only, and leave older messages in your existing profile. Once synced, these 3 months’ emails will be available in Outlook, in Outlook Web Access and on any connected mobile device, along with all your new messages.

Option 2 – Connecting a PST file

If you’re migrating from an existing Exchange or Small Business Service, you can export the on-server messages to PST files. These files can be easily linked to Outlook. In fact, several PST files can be accessed from within Outlook at any one time.

After connecting the PST file to Outlook, you can choose to ‘drag and drop’ a selected number of messages as in Option 1 for your daily use.

Option 3 – Giacom Migration Service

For Premium Mailbox users, we provide free access to Giacom’s Migration Service. Bookings can be made to have access to servers within our network which will allow you to upload larger PST files onto the Hosted Exchange service.

You first transfer your PST files to our network by sending them to us on a password-protected disk. Using Remote Desktop Connection built into Windows, you then access a remote Outlook installation which is local to the Giacom Exchange platform. Your PST files can then be connected to your Outlook profile, providing a simple, high-speed method of adding messages to the Exchange platform.
