Running your own dedicated server is very easy and requires only basic IT knowledge to operate the standard functions.

Our customers come to us, however, with varying levels of knowledge, that's why we offer up to an hour of free telephone training when you first get access to your new Giacom Dedicated Server.

This way, we can introduce you to the main features of your new server, which should give you enough understanding to be able to benefit from the web, FTP and email servers on-board. Thankfully Windows 2003 Server is much the same as all other Windows products and the desktop is familiar, as are many of the functions.

Overview of the desktop environment and the basic functions of the server.

IIS6
This is Microsoft’s web and FTP server. We will demonstrate how to set up a web and FTP site for use on the Internet, and how domains are mapped.

SmarterMail
The pre-loaded mail server. You will be introduced to setting up mail accounts on a domain name, how to change the settings and fine-tune the server to operate how you need it to.

MSDE and MDSE Query
Microsoft's SQL Server Desktop Engine - a basic run-through of how to interface with the SQL engine running as a service on the server.

myGiacom
The account control for your server. We will introduce you to myGiacom and how you can view your payments online, change your contact details, raise support tickets and point domains at your server.
